Darstellung:

A dozen horizontal parallel lines, bisected by two vertical lines, which create a central „column“; very similar scarabs, but where the horizontal lines reach the „column“ and do not cross it, were unearthed in Canaan; cf. Keel 2010a: Tell el-Far˓a-Süd Nr. 8; Jericho: Rowe 1936: no. 623 = Keel/Keel-Leu/Schroer 1989: 106 Ills. 018.024) and Egypt; cf. Tell el-Yehudiyeh: Petrie 1906: pl. 9,187 = Petrie 1925: pl. 8,231 = Keel/Keel-Leu/Schroer 1989:106 Ill. 029); this motif has three further variants: The first variant has only the horizontal parallel lines; cf. Keel 1997b: Tell el-˓Aǧul Nr. 946; the second, most common, variant is closer to the present object; the parallel lines are, however, not horizontal, but – at least on one side - slightly diagonal; cf. Keel 1997b: Akko Nr. 101; Keel 2010a: Tell el-Far˓a-Nord Nr. 35; Keel 2010a: Tell el-Far˓a-Süd Nr. 93, 424, 446; Jericho: Kirkbride 1965: 650 fig. 302,11; Eggler/Keel 2006: ˓Amman Nr. 57, 59; Niccacci 1980: Nr. 254; the third variant has only one vertical line in the center: cf. Keel 2013: Geser Nr. 227; Jericho: Kirkbride 1965: 644 fig. 300,9; Lachish: Tufnell 1958: pl. 32,84; at least the second and the third variant represent most probably a twig or a stylized tree; see Keel/Keel-Leu/Schroer 1989: 104-109; Keel 1995: § 433; Staubli 2005; local.
